Default White letters tire Thursday

What shoes does your Pontiac wear, seems like the most popular tires I see at shows and cruises are the BF GOODRICH TAs brand, I prefer a stock factory look, even though they drive like crap, the Judges love them, and often comment they rarely see them. unfortunately, no one makes the Firestone Wide Ovals in a radial.

I think Coker just recently did introduce a line of FWO radials

I like the look and wording on the FIREHAWKs since it is a Firebird with a big bird on the hood and a Hawk is a big bird.

I like Radial TA's for the look. The ride, not so much. I need rear tires and I am considering a different brand. If I go that route I'll go blackwall all around since, in my humble opinion, white letters need to match and the fronts are also TA's, though somewhat newer.

But....do I want the blackwall look on a late 60's muscle car with Cragar S/S wheels?

Luv my Firehawks too. But my sizes are discontinued. 255x60's on the TA. 215x65x15 on the front of the 65. And MT 255x60 on the back. I don't think the black walls look too bad with the bright Prostars. Just gotta talk yourself into it.
MA, check the date code on the front or back of the tire.

Blackwalls will work. White letter tires were popular back then, but not everyone had them.

No, unfortunately they stopped making Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 a long time ago. My guess is over 10 years ago. So, if any still exist, they're too old to be safely driven at highway speeds.

It was too bad, since I think they were the best riding and handling raised white letter tires I ever had.

Yes that’s why I want to replace them, not sure how long they have been on this car. I bought this car, from a well known guy who sells TAs in Michigan. He didn’t know how long the tires were on it.

The original Firehawks were awsome , I worked for Firestone when they only said Firehawk on them . Why they added Indy 500 , who knows - cheesy .

I just put a set of the raised white letter Firestone Wide Ovals radials on my 70 Chevelle SS this week. Incredible looks, ride and handling.....light years
better than the original bias plies I had on the car and they look correct.
I'm going to put some on my GTO very soon.

Before the Indy 500's, they said Firestone and Firehawk SS20 on them. I didn't particularly like the change to putting Indy 500 on them, but they were still a good tire, so I put up with it .
