Anyone know this 68 gto Half Breed
I bought the 68 GTO a couple years back. I was wondering if anybody on the site knows any history about the car. It looks like it was turned into a street strip car back in the mid-70s The stickers on the back bumper are from the gator nationals in 1978. I believe it was originally from the Ohio area.

Wonder if it was called half-breed cause it had a Chevy engine in it.

Is that an elephant with the tires on the door?
Maybe had a Hemi?

I'm going to assume it had a Chevy motor in it. I just don't know if it was a big block or small block

Mayfair, parchment, 4 speed hideaways. Nice combo. What tires and wheels did it come with?

Probably had a BBC Chevy (Rat) motor. Did a bunch of searches looking for photos or history for it, no luck. But did see that race cars that were typically Pontiac with Chevy engine, or the reverse, were often referred to as "half-breed".

That would explain the rat tail on the goat.

Thanks for looking. I was doing the same last night with no luck. I would be great to see some pics of the car back in the 70's

What frame mounts currently are on it? That should be a good indicator.
About the names of chevy powered Pontiacs, there was a navy blue 65 Tempest that ran at Thompson Dragstrip in Ohio in the early 70s, was called "Rat Trap", rather unimpressive for what it was. Had a giant rat painted on it.... |
