Default 67-69 Power steering distance from block to centerline pulley

I relocated my alternator to the passenger side due to low hood clearance. The alternator fit fine but I am using the first groove ( towards radiator), and I want to leave it there. I have a 11 bolt long style water pump with 1973 non a/c pulleys. Traditionally pontiacs have the power steering belt on the first pulley groove, and alternator belt on 2nd groove ( towards engine). Mine is the reverse of that, or what I want to accomplish. I am mocking up the Saginaw power steering pump and haven’t decided on what brackets to get, leaning towards the 67-69 aluminum brackets.

My question is since the early 8 bolt water pump is approximately 1/2” shorter, could I use the 67-69 power steering brackets to move the belt inward to use that 2nd groove? Would those brackets move the power steering pulley 1/2” closer to the engine? I searched and found that the true distance change from pulleys to the engine block is only 1/4”, so maybe the extra distance is made up in the backspacing of the 67-69 pulleys? Alternatively if someone could give me a distance from the block to the power steering pulley from a 67-69 car, I could see if that would work.
