Thumbs up 1962 Pontiac Tempest Convertible

1962 Pontiac Tempest
LeMans Package
Red exterior, Black interior, White Power Convertible top
Numbers Matching
4 cylinder 110 HP
3 speed Manual
59,800 original miles
Road worthy and driven for pleasure
$2975

The Good
New Michelin Tires
New front fenders
New front valence
New rear valence (not installed)
New front grille
New headlight surrounds
New front turn signal lenses
All electrical works great
All exterior trim in great shape (except for bumpers)
New carpet
Seat belts installed for 5
AM Radio works
New shocks
New brakes; lines, cylinders, pads, master cylinder
New clutch and flywheel resurface
New short shaft and prop shaft bearings
Spare and jack intact
Rebuilt carburetor
New fuel pump
4 beautiful hub caps
Speedo works great
Emergency/Park brake works
Floor is rock solid (wire brushed and painted during carpet replacement)
Original interior is in great shape
All glass is intact
Good battery
Fuel Gauge works
Car drives like a dream and tracks STRAIGHT.

The Bad
Engine doesn't like high RPM's; suspect recessed valves
Windshield has deep scratch in wiper arc pattern, passenger side
Convertible top is intact and barely weather-tight, but is not pretty
Exhaust system has holes (pft-pft-pft at idle )
Radiator sometimes weeps (no kidding - sometimes)
Heater core is bypassed; it leaks
Secondary transmission shaft bearings are noisy (Neutral, 1st, 2nd). 3rd is silent!
Body has creased left rear quarter and several rust spots (rockers, rr valence, trunk filler panel). Not a challenge for a decent body guy.
Convertible top hydraulic pump needs attention (draws current but makes noise)
Dents, dings in multiple places (but trim is in excellent shape)
1963 front bumper with cut brackets to fit right
Evidence in unibody of right front fender bender; 95% banged out
Bell housing is cracked near clutch fork
Takes a while to fire after sitting long periods.
Heater controls binding (but blower works at all speeds)

Accessories Included
Backup lights (installed)
Bumper guards
Fender skirts
Extra tail light lenses
Oil filter and adapter added
63 Parts Manual
62 Shop Manual
62 Body Manual (I think)
Many items of literature

I may be only the 3rd owner. 1st in PA, 2nd was my Uncle in PA

Will be listing this car on Ebay soon, starting at this price, and will post that link here.

Default 1962 Pontiac fs

I just love the car! Are you offering the car up for sale to the people on this board first before listing it on eBay?

Yes. I know there are true enthusiasts in this forum. These are neat cars. The mechanical uniqueness is amazing. Transaxle, 4 cylinder, unibody, ...

What a great driver and a great price!! Always wanted one of these, so unique. As is often the case, bad timing for me. Good luck with the sale, I'm sure you won't have any trouble selling.

Listed it on eBay starting at $2100. Auction #251291845160 set to start on the 27th and run for 10 days.

If seriously interested, get me a sizeable deposit before then.
