Ford 9" 3.062 pumpkin and 35 spline axles
I picked up a 9" housing and 35 spline axles a few years ago in case I needed for a 2nd gen.
Just got a new never used MW aluminum 3rd member housing for $200-guy had circle track cars and passed away. Bearing saddles though are 3.062. They make bearings and a spool for that sized bearing but is it too thin and potential for breaking? No lockers until you step up to the 3.250 saddle pumpkin.

I ran that spool in my 2nd gen in the 10s for many seasons and never had any issues. Car weighed around 3200 lbs and would run 10.30 at 133 with a big wheelie off the line. Ran 29.5x10.5 Hoosier radials so would dead hook every time.
MW spools are really good quality.

I ran a locker with 3.062 bearing. Its stock size.

I think the Lockers for that size only go to 31 spline and I already have 35 spline axles.
Pushing my car with a spool around the shop is sure a pain but it will probably just be for track use so a spoll will work.

I'll check but I think all the 35 spline Lockers are for the 3.250 bearing.
Even with a spool I was wondering if the 35 spline in the 3.062 was too thin and would break.

So researching this a little more MW has a spool for this bearing size. They saw good for 800HP, but theirs is for a "45 degree pressure angle spline" which is what their axles are cut with. Moser says their 35 spline axles are 30 degrees, Allstar makes a spool but uses a "35 degree pressure angle".
And to throw another question mark in all these angles I asked the Moser tech about the 33 spline 12 bolt axles and spool I got form them years ago in the Camaro. They said those are 45 degrees and why when I asked at that time if I swapped to a Posi or Locker if I could use the same axles they said probably not!

Allstar spool came in . Man I can see why for big HP you want a 3.250 bearing for the spool. It is only 0.152 thick at the thinnest part of the spool!
