Help With Engine Code
Looked at a 1963 Grand Prix and can't find this engine code anywhere. Any help would be appreciated. Looks like top line reads 963D. Thanks.

Curious. I can't find anything close to that. I was thinking maybe the 6 and 9 were a double stamp (like they got a 9 upside down at first so added the 6, or vice versa) but then I couldn't find any code at all with a D in it.

That's the VIN of the car - 963D16380
1963 GP built at Doraville Any other stamped numbers on front? Possibly a service replacement engine.

D'oh! I should have known that. Looking more closely at the photo, there may be some smaller stamped numbers hidden behind the grease, below and to the right of the VIN.

My 61 out of Wilmington also has the VIN on the block that way. Two lines of stamping near the lower left side of that milled pad. EUN and engine code are higher up and more to the right (toward engine center) on that pad. EUN is small stamp size although the code a little larger and located under the EUN. The stamping Stuart sees looks like my EUN size stamp. So try looking beneath that stamp for the engine code..

Sorry for my ignorance on these early cars. Here is the correct code. Should make it much easier to identify now.

Well, guess it's not a 421 SD engine.
Still a good find.
