Default 4-link bars angling down slightly can reduce wheel hop?

I have 68 Firebird street car setup for Autocross/road course, (car details at link below) http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=748280

Took it to the drag strip last weekend and got into some nasty wheel hop. Wheels broke loose right off the line (a little too aggressive on the start) then started hopping and biting and when I let clutch all the way out (11" centerforce) rear-end gear snapped (pic below). Some rookie mistakes on my part (haven't been to the track in a while) 1) was out of the groove a little (track worker told my when pushing me off the track), 2) stayed on the throttle (next time I'll be letting off if I can react in time).

I do have a rear 4-link (standard coil over from TCI). The tires I have are Hankook Ventus RS3 285/35 zr18 101W, which have some pretty stiff sidewalls (because they are meant for cornering and have pretty heavy load rating to boot) which may have contributed to the nastiness on the sticky track surface. (gear was 3.23 and tranny has 3.27 first gear).

There is another set of holes available to mount lower 4-link bars to axle housing bracket (second pic). Rumor has it, lower bars angling down slightly (lower in front higher in back) can reduce wheel hop? Any thoughts?

Maybe ask the mods to move this over to the race section. I run a ladder bar setup so I'm no help to you.

Wink

Shock settings reduce wheel hop. Bar angle is for loading up the suspension to hook and IC.
