1971 GTO Crager rear wheel 15x8 or 15x10
Ok this is old school and since Cooker Tires is coming back with the Crager SS wheel in particular 15 x 4.5 for the front I am going to go back to the Old School look so here is my question?
15 x 8 with a 4.5" backspace or 15 x 10 with a 4.5" backspace Maybe an N50 or 60 series tire and a skinnies on the front. Thanks Tom Last edited by Adecco; 04-07-2022 at 07:28 AM. Reason: typo |

If I were running a 8" wide rear tire Id go with 15x8 rim....the 15x10 would be too much tire roll for me. Also I used to have 15x10 rear rims with 4.5BS and a 10.5" tire. I had to trim the fender lip to get it to clear on a 72 lemans. I think I had the clearance for a 5" BS but never tried it. Or you could jack the back way up for a old school look and not have any rear tire rub. Right now I have a rear 15x8 rally 2 with 4.5BS and a 8.25" wide tire and fits good without rubbing.

Bought some centerline champ 500 rims when I was 19 which I still have and the rear ones were 10 in 4.5 backspace. Car was hit on the front so frame was bent somewhat , they only rubbed on the passenger side? Always wondered if the body was centered on the frame if they wouldn’t rub? I think if you don’t get 5” backspace they will rub, might rub on inside maybe with the 50’s ? I do like the look, might put mine back on one day.

Following this thread, I've been thinking the same thing with my 72, wondering how 10x15 5bs with 275-60 would look? I won't trim fender lip or roll it so I wonder how close tires will be. I haven't pulled the trigger on the rims yet, don't want to regret a purchase.
