Default What is this sending unit?

74 Firebird. I don't have the one in the picture any longer and I cannot find it in the catalogues of 3 different pontiac suppliers.

It's part of the timed spark. It works off of temp & time so the dist won't advance to early so the engine doesn't advance & pollute the air.

Since I switched to HEI, will it still be required?

Cold feed switch. Prevents the TCS switch on the transmission from interfering with the vacuum advance when the engine is below 120F. Not needed if the '73-74 spark advance system isn't used.
