I'm looking for any information on some TRW pistons I recently acquired. They are quite old, but unused. They are forged and domed, and the part number is L-2251A. I cannot find any reference to these pistons anywhere. TRW sold their piston division years ago to Sealed Power and they do not have any such number in current catalogs. They have the same skirt and pin location as a stock 400 piston.
I would like to put them to use in a 1976 WT block 400 with 6X heads, if possible, so any information on these pistons would be appreciated.

Have you measured the diameter of the pistons?
The closest number I found was for a 350 Chevy dome piston,L2252. Most of the part numbers in that range were for Chevy and some F*rds.

I just did a visual comparison of the stock 400 piston to the TRW piston. I will measure one, and verify the diameter. The reason I say they're Pontiac is because they were in the trunk of a 65 Ventura (parts car), and the previous owner was going to use them. Also, there was a complete set of stock Pontiac con rods #541000? So, what conclusion would you make? Maybe the 22XX numbers were designated for domed pistons only. If all else fails, I'll have to measure the dome and relief volume myself to figure the change in comp chamber volume. Then again someone out there may have info on them.
