Default Aluminum Heads on a 389

Doing a 63' 389 for my 1963 lemans. Considering upgrading from the stock iron heads to aluminum. Any problems I should expect ? Also looking for opinions on which D-port head to use for strictly street use...Edelbrock or Kaufmann ?

yes,the issue could be the valve angle. If the 63 is a stock 63 build the valve angle on alu heads will be diff.If you dont have much lift in the cam you could be alright.Clay the pistons which ever heads you decide.I have run and liked the KRE Dports.Tom

I shoe horn a set of 72cc EDL Perf RPM Round ports (2.11/1.66)onto my 350 and it ran awesome... 389 would be no problem.

I did have to clearance the cylinders for the valve to clear... I would assume the 389 would not need the same clearanceing I needed to do.

SPEED SAFE, NICK
