RIP Jerry Eckman. I had just 1 personal encounter with Mr. Eckman. He was racing Arnie Beswick at a Super Chevy Event. I was helping Arnie with his car. Arnie had recently installed the new at the time Holley Anhiliator ignition system. Ready to race Eckman, Arnie's car would not start. It was a match race. Rather than taking a by run, Jerry went back to Arnie's pit and dug into that complex wiring system and got his car going for him. It was no simple feat. He spent a good hour figuring the problem out and showing me what to do to get it patched up. Kind of shows you what kind of guy he was. He could have just taken his match race money, ran solo, and packed up. A great racer and a nice guy. BTW, the runs were very close, His Pro Stock vs Arnie in the tameless Tiger. Condolences to his family.

A life well lived. We should all hope to be remembered that way one day.
