Anyone have experience with this ECU?
I need a nitrous progressive controller and a data logger for my car, this ECU does that and a whole lot more. I'm going to stay with a carb and wet nitrous for now, but I can see going MPI and dry nitrous in the future. Traction control is a huge plus too. My questions are: Do I need to use a TPS to activate the nitrous? Or can I still use a WOT switch and have the nitrous come on with the release of the transbrake button? Can I use the ECU ignition control with my current MSD distributor and coil? Or do I have to go with a cam sync and CNP? |

You can use your distributor, coil and I assume MSD box to control timing and retards. If you move to a cam sync and CNP you avoid any possible issues with distributor phasing and can plot a timing curve. This is helpful when you are maximizing your timing with the system on.

I plan on staying with a carb and wet nitrous for the immediate future. I will switch to MPI and dry nitrous at some point in the future.
After looking into it a little further, I'm going to go with CNP and a cam sync right now. I know people that know Holley EFI stuff like the back of their hand, but I race against them and multiple cars that they tune. There is a Holley EFI group on Facebook with a lot of good info. I've been using the search feature and getting a clearer picture of what I need to do. |

Consider a crank mounted trigger wheel and a cam sync for greater accuracy.

I thought the progressive controllers used a time based ramp?

I'm going to call Luhn Performance tomorrow to order a cam sync. I'm going to use oem D585 coils. Using the Holley ECU and going CNP seemed complicated at first, but after a few hours of searching the net, it seems a little more straightforward now. |

The Leash progressive controller I have in my other car is a time based ramp.
I assume the Holley is as well. Everything I've read about the Holley controller has been positive. |

I don't use Holley, but I found it pretty straightforward. The timing is rock steady with the 36-1 crank wheel. You'll like the versatility.

Lots of control options with an ecu. Safeties too.
Not Holley, just an example.

I run CNP with a carb using the Haltech VMS. I use the MSD hall effect crank sensor and the cam sync from LPI. I run a 16volt system and found the stock coils didn't meet the need and moved to the Holley smart coils. I know they are not cheap but definitely much better in my experience on a 16volt system.
I control nitrous and fuel progressive on two separate curves, cylinder to cylinder timing, trans dump valve and log 20 channels. Overall very happy with the system. I also have a Holley Dominator that I plan to upgrade to and have built the program for that on the bench.

Nice! Any plans to also control the fuel/dry nitrous?

Yes, that is the plan. If you look at the intake you can see where I have the injector bosses covered. We keep getting distracted continuing to optimize the combination.
So far it has gone 4.93 at 143 in the 1/8th with a 1.16 sixty foot time. Car is a little over 3250 with me in it and I am at 1877 lbs/hr on the system. We want to get another 200 lbs/hr through it and the timing curved worked out and we will probably switch over to EFI.

Do you see the car picking up ET/MPH with a switch to EFI and dry nitrous? |

Not necessarily but it will allow finer tuning over the fuel side hole to hole which should help optimize the overall tune up. I am also expecting I will run into a point where the engine is getting close full saturation with the nitrous and tuning each hole with EFI should be a little better than changing fuel changes in the nozzle.
I also like the option to run with the throttle body exposed to open through an opening in the hood when I cannot run a forward spacing scoop. May not be too big of a deal but looks cool in my opinion.
