I think he did and looks line he is in movie but not sure how much he's in it.

in the trailer there is a f-14 scene....maybe a flashback?
I'm not the biggest F-18 fan but I have made tons of parts for both that & F-14

You realize most of “Top Gun” was filmed aboard Ranger (ex CV-61)?

The interior shots were shot on Ranger for sure . Both ships were used though .
