Default Sad news to report - Steve Brody 62 bv died this morning

All,

It is with a very heavy heart that I report to all his many Pontiac friends that Steve Brody ..."Brody" to most everyone who new him ...62 bv in this forum died unexpectedly this morning. He was not having any health issues that I knew of. He was 68 years young and full of life. He started his day as most Sundays ... preparing to see and clean the windows of a few of his many Brody's Window Bright customers and making plans for his 50th HS reunion next week in California.
He leaves a huge hole in my heart as I've had the pleasure of knowing him, working on Pontiac's with him, cleaning windows with him, and enjoying quite a few cold beverages with him since we 1st met in 2009 at the POCI co-vention.

Please remember all the great memories you have of Brody ...there are many to go around.

Bruce Edelmann

So sad to here this. I loved Brody. He always made me smile. Heck, even my wife liked him. No more Brody's Window Bright t-shirts and Apple Pie moonshine to look forward to.

What a bummer, Got the news earlier from TAZimmy. Spoke with Brody @ Norwalk, glad we had the opportunity.
He was a master craftsman.
Also worth noting, I understand that he was with Eddie Cheever's 1998 Indy winning team. How awesome is that!

So sorry to read this news When I started reproducing the 1965 1966 big car tach cups, Brody bought a few from me and we enjoyed several conversations from afar.

Nice guy to deal with. RIP

Default Steve Brody 1953-2021

Thanks so much for all the kind words from all who have replied/read this and other PY threads about Brody.
While I knew he was special and relished his friendship, phone calls, mentoring, and just being Brody, I was really amazed that he had the same effect on so many other people. I have met, talked to, and reminisced about my experiences with Brody to many of his friends that I did not know. While the past few months have been hard for me personally I have been uplifted by the great stories I heard and laughed about with so many new people. We had a very impromptu celebration of his life at the local Fishers, Indiana SunKing Brewery in August that had become part of Brody's local family. We brought some of his clothes, his final cigar, mementos from his Indy racing days and other items from his well used garage over to the party room at the Brewery and 200+ people showed up on short notice. The outpouring of love and friendship was overwhelming. He had such a positive affect on so many peoples personal lives. It shows that even today ...being kind and funny and giving of yourself to other people really does matter. Just recently on December 9th SunKing Brewery introduced a special IPA brewed in his honor - named GTO Good Times, Obviously. Again we gathered in the party room at the brewery and about 60 of his friends enjoyed another celebration of his life. I am so glad to have met so many of the people who knew and enjoyed Brody while he walked on this earth. I am a better person for that experience.
Bruce

I spoke with him a little while ago. He had sold the 64 GTO conv on Bring a Trailer I think. Got close to what he wanted which was over 100k. If you know him, he babied that car. Buyer wanted to fly out from California and drive the car back, but he talked him out of it. Sad news indeed.

This is how I originally got to know Brody after he posted on my ad in the Members Helping Members section inquiring about transporting this car! Turns out he had been following my posts & since he had so much blood sweat & tears in that car, he wanted it to get there safely. When he first told me he was willing to send back the buyers money (over 100K) & sell it to someone else if the buyer didn't pay the extra to have me do the transport, I wasn't sure if he was serious or not until I met him in person. Even the buyer was surprised & reiterated that story to me when I arrived with the car.

Brody was one the those kind of people who after spending an hour with him when I loaded the car, I knew we would become good friends. We made plans to spend some time together at the Nationals & we did. I had a great time that day & we had plans for some future doings as well.

As I am typing this, I am also toasting Brody with a sip of his Apple Pie Shine that he gave me a jar of at Norwalk! Yummy.

I will also be calling the gentleman in California that bought the GTO to tell him of the terrible news

R.I.P Brody! Even though we only spent a few hours together total & a handful of texts, I will always call you FRIEND.

God Bless
Bill
