Mine has 2" exhaust, but it's not the size of the pipe, it's how you use it.

I would like to see some good detail photos of the dual exhaust routing from stock log type manifolds to the transmission cross member for a 67 or 68 please.
Second, how much of a performance gain is there between single exhaust, duals with log manifolds, duals with long branch, and duals with headers on a fairly low performance 400? (8.5:1, mild cam, auto). Or, asked another way, if a performance sound is a big part of the equation vs all out performance, whats the best bang for the buck? |

Headers on a motor that mild won't have that much impact; the engine can't pass enough air to use all the signal they generate. Plus, for a big car that is primarily street driven, they are somewhat out of character.
Duals are always the best bang for the buck, not sure if the hp long branch mannys buy you much over large outlet log manifolds in THIS engine. The slightly greater restriction of the log manifolds will actually keep some extra cylinder pressure for a slight boost in low end power and some free "West Virginia" EGR. Step up the cam and compression, and you can use the long branch mannys for sure. |
