'68 LeMans, 455, having to make one good engine harness out of two lousy ones;

I've got an alternator with an internal regulator I want to use. Are there any major wiring changes I'll need to make (aside from a diffrent plug at the alt)? Also, do I HAVE to disconnect the harness from the old firewall-mounted regulator? Would I need to use heavier-than-factory-gauge wiring?

Help Greatly Appreciated Dubb

AA,
What's Up, man?
To convert your alt to internal, pull the harness from the regulator (firewall). Wire the two center wires together. Then wire the two outer wires together. Change the plug on the alt and rock and roll, dude!

Along with the info from JC455, if you have the older plug at the alternator, the old "F" wire on the plug will go to terminal "1" (left terminal when viewed from the back), and the old "R" terminal will go to terminal 2 (right terminal when viewed from the back) on the newer alternator.

Have a happy Fourth! God bless the USA!

Regards, George
