Default Drag week 2015

Now that I have retired I want to do drag week. Does anyone have any experiance doing this?
What class would my 62 tempest fit into , 455 , ladder bar suspension, roll bar, no back seat? I'm going to slow the car down to run mid 11's again knowing it won't be competitively fast. Wanting to get one more thing off the bucket list. Any info welcome.

Thanks Tom

You could have at least hung your foot out the door.

X2! You can see mine in that same pic if you have a magnifying glass!

If you're considering doing Drag Week, DO IT! Last year was my first attempt at it and it was a really great experience. Probably the most enjoyable, most busy, hardest working, costliest vacation I've ever had but my wife and I both can't wait to do it again next year!

The rules for 2015-2017 are coming out the 12th of this month. After they're out, Hotrod will have them on their website and you can download a copy and you can figure out where your car fits. It will fit in unlimited and daily driver for sure! If you have a question on something about your car/class, just email them and they'll let you know where it fits.

If you haven't found it already, Bangshift.com has a forum dedicated to Drag Week. Lots of helpful info there. http://www.bangshift.com/forum/forum...rag-week-board

Another pontiac would be great Tom, I have done it twice, beware....its very addictive!! Mid 11's would be good for Daily driver class, if you do a little research you should be able to find the results from the last couple of years, which might help you be competitive, but from what I can recall with your Mods, Daily driver is the only place you would make the cut or have a chance!!

I got an email saying they may announce the tracks at the PRI show this Friday. Be nice to know this far in advance where we'll be racing.

Track announcements this early would be incredible.

I've ran my Buick in 2011 and 2012, then had a DNS in 2013 when the clutch pressure plate broke on the drive out. I plan on registering for 2015. Hoping to have the Firebird ready to race in 2016.

This is on my bucket list....real soon...right now the car gets driven 200 miles round trip everytime I go to St Thomas Dragway, has 3.08 gearing, full interior, full exhaust 87 octane..and real easy on parts...mid 11's... not fast enough to compete for a win but for me it would be about the adventure and fun .... pretty tempting...just need to find the time!

A quick google search came up with this description:

"Drag Week is the event where quarter-mile racers with street-legal cars compete five days in a row at four different dragstrips, and must drive their race cars 1,000-plus miles from track to track on public roads without any assistance from support vehicles."

It's really the best car show, road trip, and drag race you've ever been to all rolled into one! David Freiburger (the creator of Drag Week) put it something like this: "If you hate your car, you body, your bank account, and your sanity then Drag Week is for you!"

I have exactly that mental disorder. Too bad I missed it last year, hopefully the locations and schedule will work for me in 2015. Oh, and the car!
