Default New mad dog headers hitting starter

Is it possible to use a clocked mini in ANY position? I guess what i am trying to say is would it be ok to clock it almost straight down, away from the block. The headers are hitting the solenoid. I cant even bolt it down. So i was wondering if i buy a clockable mini starter can i clock it in ANY position 360 degrees and it still work fine?

Thanx

The RobbMC starter can be twisted to any position. The one on my Dad's Mustang has the solenoid facing straight down.

thats why they are called clockable, put it where you want but be aware some only clock in about 4 positions while others have more clocking positions.

FWIW, the factory had the (non-clockable) DelcoRemy starter solenoid hanging straight down in 1955 then again on the 1963 421SD to clear the huge exhaust manifolds. AFAIK those are the only two times the factory did that.

And that is why the RobbMC is nice- it has infinite clocking positions, you can spin the thing wherever you want it.

My RobbMc is small enough I didn't even need to change the clocking.

well, just to update, i had my local starter guy (gpe starters) clock it straight down and it worked flawless. SO much more room, and you can hook the wires up with it bolted up.
