64-65 GTO differentials were 8.2", correct?
Are 4 pinion posis' desireable? Worth???? How do I tell if a posi is "used up" If it is used up can it be rebuilt/remachined? Figuring about 450 ft/lb of torque is this diff adequate, or should I swap in something else? 12 bolt? Dana 60? Ford 9"? I someday hope to put the motor on the bottle to the tune of about +150 HP. Will an 8.2 hold up to 600 hp? Thanks guys!

64-5 GTO's are 8.2 10 bolts. 4 pinion posis are used in all 3:36 and lower (numerically higher) ratios. 450 Ft Lbs is a stretch with an 8.2 Yes, they are rebuildable. For what you anticipate, a 12 bolt or a 9 inch would be a better way to go, especially if the car is a four speed.

One other thing to think of. If you install a rear end capable of holding an honest 450 ft/lbs and you are running a Munice four speed and you like to really bang the gears then you better find a Hemi four speed. 450 ft/lbs is about the Muncies limit. JM2C
