If it's too loud, you're too old.

Had a great time again this year. The rain largely stayed away. Hit a torrential downpour on I-95 just north of Richmond on the way down Friday and another quick downpour Sunday morning before the even started up again, but that's it). Missed some old friends that were coming and didn't make it, as well as some friends from the board that are coming evey year and never seem to make it. Made some new friends too.

The racing action was fun to watch as always, and the car show on Saturday had a pretty good turn out. Got to see a '51 wagon with straight-8 power (how often do you see one of them?), Jeff Raff's recently finished '64 GP Pro-Streeter (pictures do it no justice), a 71,000 mile original Fiero (V6/5speed), an early production Firehawk, a '66 Tempest Sprint with the OHC-6 and factory air (never seen one with air!), and so much more.

I came home to find out the air in my wifes truck quit working, so she used my truck on Saturday, only to find it with a flat tire when she awoke Sunday morning. Now I have two things to address this week.

I agree with you Bob on band..despite what Mongo says..
The singer was good at screaming and mutalting some good "old" R&R songs.
C'mon Mongo,to me they sounded like Hank Jr. did to you at Beaver..
Glad they calmed it down a bit..for us "old folks" ..JMO..

Anyhew...I enjoyed meeting some old friends and seeing some of the great cars there.
I want to thank all who stopped by to say "Hi"...
The Dirty Bird is a trip !!! Think I watched evey pass..Bob C..Frank (All Pontiac . Com) Jim LeHart & crew and of course Scott Roberts & Dave Wilcox put on a very professional exhibition. Can't wait for the "Big" motor..
I personally had a good time despite having car problems all week end. Car struggled to make 11.50 passes..them I caught Red Lit fever..
Congratts to Shawn Miller for making his first 9 second pass !!!
Thanks to Chris at at PY & Pypes & HPP for the race/Shootout...
CYA next year and Norwalk..
Troy

FWIW: WE all ran autocross too coming back the return road..

Comments on the Event:

The guys working the burn-out box area were the best we've had the chance to work with. Top Notch!

Performance Years - picnic attendance surprisingly low key and hardly any people??

There where no Event T-Shirts ??? This was a disappointment.

Where were the vendors & others? Butler, Pontiac Dude (Ken Keefer), Arnie Beswick, Geeto Tiger, etc...... This was a disappointment.

Swap Meet had some good stuff - but there where only a few guys selling stuff.

Over all we had a good time at the event.

I finally made it into the 10's !!!! (10.71 @ 125 MPH)

I was being kind, Troy. Overall...that band SUCKED. Some individual talent in that group, but as a group, they didn't mesh very well...and the sound system may have had something to do with that.

We had a GRAND time! Whudya mean, "where were the vendors?" Don't you mean "where were the OTHER vendors?" Argh! Argh! Humor... Some of you guys are just going to have to get used to CVMS as a "vendor" at Pontiac events. We're a "player" now, for sure! And of course, AllPontiac was there with their display.

Since there was no other car there to "race", we used the time for experimenting and testing. Dirty Bird did well, all things considered. Friday night's 6.58@211 was the best run of the weekend. Saturday morning, we made some changes to the fuel curve and went "the wrong way", having it lean out too soon. Didn't "hurt" it, though. Saturday afternoon was much better, 6.61@ 210. Sunday's run was 6.71 @ 207. The ar wasn't going to cooperate for any "new numbers". That's 15 full 1/4 mile runs on it, zero "incidents" (we're very happy!). We'll be doing some maintainence and some minor changes for Dayton.

Congrats to Bill King for winning "Heavy" Saturday, too! You can see Bill's car on our website, in the photo gallery under ".003 light".

Thanks to all that came by and introduced themselves. At least two said meeting us and seeing Dirty Bird were their motivation for atending!

Jim

Saying that, I would have figured a 10.90 something. You went deep into the 10's for the first time. Nice job and congrats. Little more time and tunning and it could be low 10's.

Thanks.

Yah - going from 11.01 to 10.71 is a good size jump. We'll be working for some more gains by Norwalk.

Sorry I missed it. Sounds like everyone had a good time.
I wasn't able to come close to a tune on my car in Salt Lake. I think I have an intake leak. May need it milled again.
Kept adding jets and squirters and no real responce.
So with that happening in 6000' DA, I figured I would only be more frustrated at VMP @ 3000'.

Can somebody confirm this? Bob??

I know they added more power, but that seems like a LOT.

grnmnstr,

I beleive it was a 7.63, not a .33. All of them were right on 177.

Jim

p.s. Brian saw the same thing I did... He's faster on the keyboard.

7.63 seems more like it.

I wish I could have been there, but the new motor is not quite done yet.

We'll be at Norwalk, though. Hoping for high 7s with the new Tiger (422 cfm) heads.

Well for me it was a great weekend. Was able to help out at the scales on Fri for the HPP Pavement Pounders Shootout.I made some T&T passes Fri night in the T/A and set a record 10.06 run.On Sat I was running T&T along with Heavy class -didnt do to well Sat in the race but continued tweaking after the race and was able to hit my goal of 9.99 at 5pm on Sat so I was more than pleased.Sunday got into the Quick 8 shootout and made it to Semi-finals so it was an awesome weekend.Dan Albright and Randy Peer participated in the HPP Shootout on Fri and Randy was able to set a new record on Sat of 11.59.Arnie Brewer tied or set a new record in his 67 GTO 10.94.John Labuta and Duke Jefferson were also on hand and Duke made it to the Semi finals in Heavy on Sunday. The Dirty Bird Funny Car was on hand making passes all weekend and kicking butt and the driver was on the Tree also in the Pontiac powered beast. The weather held off and was pretty good all weekend but most people seemed to be off 1-2 tenths.Had a ball hanging with the PA boys,Troy and everyone!!!Was nice to meet Jeff Verdi in the staging lanes during the Sun Quick 8 and I was hoping some of his skills were going to rub off on me---LOL.Looking forward to Norwalk!!!
Shawn

We had a great time!I caravaned up with Gene C and his sweet wheelstanding '66 Goat and Jerry and John.Met some new friends and saw some from last year.I finally got my license passes done and went a 9.82 in the heat.Tough racing as usual with the VA boys.Congrats to Jaimie on his S/pro win and Eric W on R/U Sun and Jeff V.I agree on the band, didn't talk to anyone who liked the music.I looked for event shirts also,I think they would sell well.

I'll try and get some video and pics up later.

When the band got the guitar chord voicing and bass line wrong on Ozzy's "Crazy Train" AND added latin percussion to it, I knew Randy Rhoads was turning 10,000 rpm in his grave. And then they butchered Alice in Chains "Rooster"...just awful.
