That's true, George.
If he gets the funny car in there, the dragster side will probably be full and no door cars will be put in that side.

It could be a low 8 sec field.

Why would a Funny car run in a dragster class? The weight differance is a lot. 2400 lbs Funny to 1800 lbs digger? Funny cars run Funny cars. Door cars run door cars. Rails run rails.

Because it's the only class that the car can fit in at Norwalk?

You know what would be more interesting from a spectator perspective? Having "Dirty Bird" run another funny car in a best 2 out of 3 match race. I'd be willing to bet Pete Woodruff would be willing to pay for such an attraction. Doesn't Mellott have a funny car?

Because somewhere in this thread, Robert's asked what class his car would be in?

Doesn't matter on weight, engine combo or anything.
Funny Cars and dragsters and altereds on one side, door cars on the other side in the Quick 16.

Unless Scott puts another combo together and tips the can, it would be a mismatch, and even if the "Boss Bird" didn't get to the finish line first, it would still win the match up. A blown alky car just cannot compete with the visceral spectacle that is a blown nitro car. To the spectator, with nostalgia nitro cars, it's all about the show, not who gets to the finish line first or fastest. Geezers at the Grove (Maple Grove) is a good event to check out for nostalgia nitro, and you'll see what I mean.

Is anyone willing to put up some $$$$ to see me and GTO George run side by side ?

2) 3000+ lb steel GTO's "66" & "74"

Both blown with 871's

Both have zoomies

1 is injected, 1 is carbureted

Both running close in times. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

We may not be the fastest cars there but they are pretty evenly matched. And though George's 74 is really cool, we all know 66 are the coolest :0

Ohhhhhhh, I just read George's signature and see his is only a 525ci and mine is a 535. So it just wouldn't be a fair match.

Dil,
You know with the weight (3,000 - 3,200 lbs.) of our cars and the low Boost numbers (7 - 10).............I don't think there will a car at Norwalk with the same numbers (weight & boost) that will touch our cars in a race!

I agree, that would be a fantastic match up.

My money is on Dil, since his has spent less time on the trailer compared to yours.

Don't be so sure George. I know of a Firebird being built that should be at Norwalk.

My money is on Dil too!

It's been a long time since I've called anyone out. In fact, the last time was a street race in San Bernardino, Ca during one of the Route 66 events when I had a mild 455 and the car was pro streeted. It was against a 302 4 spd 69 Camaro. Man that sucker was fast. There are still people today that aren't sure who won.

The Firebird Funny car Bill is working on is getting close. He'll be quite a bit lighter than me and George but making about the same HP. Maybe more. He's going back to the dyno soon. Once the engine and chassis are working Bill should be poopin his pants running in the mid 7's

My car won't be done by Norwalk and would be a better match up with Dude's old flopper than with Scott's.
