Default Clutch linkage question

Question about the clutch linkage on my 72 GTO / 400 / 3 speed.

What is the correct installation position for the swivel? Is it on the side of the lever opposite /away from the starter, or the same side as the starter?
on my 72, it will hit the starter if its on the same side, but if its on the other side of the lever, its at a pretty sharp angle where it sits in the clutch fork.

Thank you!

it's on the wrong side in your picture, it should go to the side of the bracket away from the starter.

Are you sure you've got the right clutch fork in there? It seems like it's not out far enough from the bell housing but maybe a trick of the angle and my memory. Possible that pivot bracket is bent out a bit making the angle worse? I didn't like the way that old style push rod fit on mine and also had issues with it bending so I upgraded to the heavy duty two piece set up, might help with your angle too.

from ames or PY. PP sells them too on ebay

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1964-88-GM-...sid=m570.l1313

here's an original too at double the cost (but almost worth it, I don't have a good relationship with PP parts lately!)

I'm sure it's in the ames catalog somewhere too.
