Have been dealing with steering column lower bearing slop in both original, and refurbished steering columns for a while, and was helping another forum member with a general steering issue, and came across an upgraded bearing which looks promising.

Here's the link to the original thread in the 70-72 A-Body section, but the bearing is pretty common between many models, 2nd gen F bodies as well:
