Default 70 GTO tach

I have a tach in my 70 GTO that I believe was replaced with a 71 or 72 tach. It has a 2 prong connector. I believe one side goes to coil negative and other to 12 volts supply. Will this work in my stock 70 or is there differences in the later models ignition system?

Should work on any stock ignition system before HEI.
