Default 275/60/15

Anybody running 275/60/15? If so do they fit under your wheel well?

Wow, 275/60/15s . . . . I'm running 245/60s on 15X7 wheels all the way around on my 70, the fronts don't rub, but they sometimes will hit the top of the wheel well when landing after a medium to large bump. Backs don't rub at all.

I don't see how you can get 275s up front.

I have 275/60/15's on the rear of my 70 and have no problems with rub.
They are also on 15x6 rims which makes them a bit taller.
They'll be going on 15x7's this Spring.

I have run both 275/60/15 and 275/50/15 on 15 by 7 rims (car is a 70 skylark gs). The 60 series is a bit tall and would rub occasionally on hard turns btu not to bad. The 50 series on the other hand never rubbed but took a while getting used to looking at the lower profile since I was so used to looking at the 60 series. One note though, using these tires on rims less then 8" will cause the tire to ballooon up some, meaning the center will contact the ground as the sides will not. After a while you will note the wear on the center section and not on the sides and no its not from hard take offs since I dont have a posi and my drivers side wears out in the center. I will be looking for or widening the rims to either 8" or 10" because of this. When they are ballooned no additional traction is gained since the full width of the tire is not making contact with the ground.

275-60- 15 in the rear and 225-70-15 on the front. They both have the same assprct ratio, so the side walls look same. The both fit very well. The rears are very tight but never any rubbing. They fit well I would reccomend that size on any GM A Body car.

Agree to an extent traction WILL increase but not at the same pressure as a skinnier tire on same width rim. Had 295 on a 7 inch rim and it hooked way better than the 275 BUT! I only ran about 22-25 psi in them and 30-32psi in the 275's

Mounting a 275/60/15 on a 7 inch rim is not ideal... but many, many people do it with no adverse effects. The tire doesn't "balloon" as you can see in this pic- the 275 is the one on the right.

These pics are of the 275/60/15 mounted on my '69, they fit the '70 just as well. I have them on a 15X7 Rally II, as long as you have them mounted on a rim with similar backspacing you should be fine.

This shot is straight up at the lip. They have never rubbed at all.

I have a pair mounted on a pair of 15X7's that I have laid back to go back on my 71 whenever I wear out the 225-70-14's I'm running right now. No problems with rubbing or any other issues when I was running them before.
