Trunk Lock Bracket
Does anyone know the exact location of the bracket that the trunk lock mounts to on a 1967 GTO? I am trying to fix someone else's mistake. The bracket right now does not line up correctly to be able to close the trunk lid. It looks like if I position it in the center, the key lock cylinder shaft(linkage) will not line up with the lock. It seems like it has to be to the right side a little. Measurements would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The best way to describe it is the slot that the lock rod fits into in the latch itself should be centered side to side.
The latch mount is welded in offset of center by roughly 1 1/4". Here's a few pics with measurements taken from the inside edge of the tail light mounting bracket to the latch mount. HTH |

Here's the display that I made out of a '67 a few years ago.

Approximate measurements for lining up the weld in bracket
Is your trunk floor pan original? If yes, it should have a 1 3/8" hole a few inches to the right of center when looking down from the center of the tail panel (where the tail panel comes to a slight point). The end of the bracket's right post lines up almost exactly to the middle of that hole which will get you in the ballpark.
If no hole is there for reference, here are a few measurements you might be able to use instead. From the left side of car, I get a distance of 7 3/8" from the tail panel's squared off edge (where the date code is stamped) to the latch bracket's left post. The right side is 6 3/16". |

Here is a shot of my car before I started working on it, to give you an idea of location. I would have to look to be sure, but I think the hole to the passenger side of it is for the tag light wire. There should also be a vent tube for the gas tank under the latch if I remember correctly. I can take more pics tomorrow, if you need them you.

We used it at a couple of club events & it was a great centerpiece. The front is finished with NC tobacco barn wood & it would make a great bar for someone's mancave. |

Nope, just enough rust that no one had any interest in it...even for free.
