I would agree it would be a collectible with a Matching RA III with 0273 carb all correct dated stuff, M21, 12 bolt posi , TA suspension, and a factory spoiler.

Add OEM sheet metal and interior its a trophy car deserving of being silver painted. But, it's not...
I totally disagree!

1.) We don't know if it is NOM.
2.) No mention it's not a 0273 carb.
3.) No mention the rest of the numbers don't match.
4.) 70 Formulas NEVER came with a factory spoiler.
5.) One fender is not original... easy fix.
6.) Auto / AC is not any reason to degrade it's value. Some people want them this way.
7.) Only difference between TA and Formula suspension in 1970 was sway bar thickness. And in some cases, this is not even true. Many 70 TAs came with Formula bars.
8.) According to some price guides, RAIII Formulas out price RAIII TAs.
9.) And last but not least... Yes... I'm hyper sensitive to RAIII Formulas... lmao.

BTW: I like the car, and from what is stated and shown I formed that opinion. I also, like your opinion too.

But, what it will never be is what makes a 70 RAIII Formula car the "top of the list".

A matching and correct dated M21. OEM sheet metal and interior with a cherry on top. The factory spoiler. Haha

I took the transverse off my Trans Am last year... It was too quiet.

Remember that for every four pictures of the car, you should post one of the friendly dealer....

If somebody paid +$42K for this car they got stuck bad. If you want to consider a car painted the wrong color and with a bunch of the wrong parts you might want to add this one to the list. It also been subject to a little armchair quarterbacking here.

The "TA Suspension" was not an option on the Formula in 1970, and as noted... neither was the rear spoiler.

For what it's worth, when the car was advertised last year, the seller claimed it had the matching RAIII block. I see the ad now claims it has a YZ block, as well.

And you really need to get yourself a T/A so you can be a bit more balanced about these things

I love that color on Formulas, (more than Lucern) I wouldn't have changed it but I like it. It reminds me of my Admiralty blue 74. It might be 70 Atoll blue?

I wasn't aware the handling package with 15" wheels and rear spoiler were never an option.

Sometimes certain options were available and never dealer or customer ordered (iE RAIV) is why I said it would be holy grail or gravy on top of a m-21 Formula.

This one is nice like it is...

But, a M-21 Atoll Blue with White or Black deluxe guts would be the best. IMHO

I picked this up from a neighbor who moved in 2 houses down after a divorce. I came home one day and there was a 70 Formula on his front lawn for sale. What are the odds of this being in rural Maine a 1000 ft. from a Pontiac nut?

I bought a bunch of NOS parts, got some signs and most of the parts manuals out of that dealership when it closed in the 80's. I passed on some slightly damaged NOS sheetmetal because I had no way to move it and no place to store it - it went in a dumpster.

There was ONE guy who was tasked with the job of cataloging and boxing up the parts department and shop - he wasn't very interested in being as accurate as they wanted him to be and cash in hand was better than the short term job he had.

The owner/seller just cancelled all the bids on the car. Must have sold it locally is my guess.

Cool - an Atoll Blue/Sandalwood RAIII/M21 car. Nicely optioned (and non-optioned...)

Please do provide more details/pictures. Great find...

The car is on the "to-do" list. It retains the original rear end, transmission and air cleaner. The car does run but is not road worthy. The original interior was dyed black. The car will need to be stripped and start from scratch! A great candidate for a IV replacement! It sucks to have these outside but I'm still working on my shop and is full of the other ram-airs. Building a shop "out-of-pocket" and by yourself is slow and tedious as many of you are aware. Gotta have dreams!

Great candidate for an RA IV swap, indeed!

At least you are building your shop. I'm still looking for a PLACE to build a shop...!
