I've got a headlamp mounting panel #480958(RH), that the restoration book says is for 71 & 72 GTO, will this part fit a Leman's? Or are they diffrent, its the piece that holds the headlight buckets.

The GTO headlight panel is the same for 71 or 72 Lemans only if the lemans has the endura option front end.My parts car is a 71 Lemans Sport with the Endura option and is identical to my 71 GTO except for the Grilles.GTO being wire mesh and Lemans having more of a bottom of a milk crate design.
