Next week i'm taking my car to get painted at the local body shop...He said they bake the car at 210 degrees for 20 mins. My worry is, will that hurt anything on my car?...Like MSD Box, or my line lock solinoid?...i'm going to take the fuel cell, pump and filter out, and the battery. But just worrired about the other stuff..Ignition coil? IF anyone has any suggestions, let me know, thanks Bill PS...the guy at the body shop says everything will be ok, i jsut want another opinion!

Had my GTO & Chevelle both baked don't know temp. longer than that, but had no problems with either afterwards. I was wanting to get some details on your T/A as I'm planning on a 400 swap into my 84 15th anniversary bird. I understand exhaust, & mtr mounts are tough issues. Could you give me some details. Thanks Dave K.

If its only going to be baked for 20 min. I wouldn't worry about electronic components. It is unlikely that sensitive internal electronic components will get anywhere near that temp. It takes TIME to heat enclosed components to 210 degrees.

We routinely bake via infrared to 140 degrees for 40 minutes. The outer panels absorb the heat, not the atmosphere, so I would say that the risk of heat transmission is relatively low.

Baking at 210 degrees? Sounds a bit high. Most bake booths are set to 140 degrees, the most I've seen is 180. Most paint companies have recommendations for bake times based on 140 degree METAL TEMP. As far as damage from the heat, not likely, but if you are worried, have them adjust it down. irgoatmike
