Default Rally shifter in 64-67 cars?

His/Her shifters have become pretty expensive. I was wondering if anyone has adapted a 69 and up Rally shifter to the mid year A bodies. The shifter works essentially the same, maybe even better since there is a reverse lockout on it.

The Rally's have gone up as well but they are 1/3 to 1/2 the price of the Hurst units.

Guess the answer is no then I've ordered a rally out of a second gen Bird and I'll see how it goes.
