Default 1962 Grand Prix Super Duty on Ebay

Project car in need of full restoration. Not mine but I thought there may be some interest. I may bid if it doesn't get too crazy.

Yeah, has plenty of rust. Would be a big (expensive) job to restore

if you are knowledgeable about the sd engines, what do you think of the 13u stamping. I personally haven't seen one that nicely lined up before.

Well,it looks like a true 62 SD block, the transfer lug is not there and has the correct casting.Almost all the 62 cars got the 13U as I remember.I know you could buy the block over the counter, can't remember if they would have a SR back then.I have seen a few 62 blocks offered for sale but never paid attention if they had a code.Tom

Here's the link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1962-Pontia...taE3ti&vxp=mtr I figured I'd save the info and photos for future reference.

The VIN listed in the ad matches up to the list in Pete McCarthy's book:
VIN 962P10457
Production date 6-19
Color NNA
Trim 84
Engine code number 13U/435838
Axle code 5=4:30
8 lug wheels
Dealer code 17-167

The seller says, "1962 Pontiac Grand Prix 421 Super Duty Barn Find. This Factory Street Racer has been off the road since the 70's. It is EXTREMELY RARE as it is 1 of 16 DOCUMENTED Grand Prix Super Dutys produced in 1962. It was equipped with a 421 with dual 4 barrel carburetors,4-speed, and 8 lug wheels.

The car does not have its original motor, however this auction comes with a 1962 421 Super Duty block, an original aluminum dual quad intake, original heads, and the very rare factory high performance exhaust manifolds.

It still retains its numbers matching 4 speed transmission, as well as the bell housing, flywheel, pressure plate, clutch, and correct starter.

It also has a radiator.

As the pictures show, this car needs a complete restoration. It appears that this car has never been painted or in an accident (except a small issue with the right front fender). There is a dent on top of the right rear quarter panel from a tree limb falling on it.

The frame has scaling but did not see any rust through.

All the glass (except windshield) appears to be in good condition, as it the stainless trim.

This is a very unique opportunity to own a very rare car that was an icon back in the day when Pontiac dominated racing with these cars. It is 1 of 5 or so know to exist.

Definitely needs a new trunk lid. The rest of the car looks fairly decent, body-wise.

Usually not big on basket case projects, but this one is really rare and if it actually has most of the parts in that pile of chaos, it would make one heck of a rare and fantastic car when finished. And it appears to have a legitimate history. Someone with lots of Pontiac knowledge, body and paint skills, and lots of free time could make this car work out financially. Or someone who doesn't care about money and just wants to own one of the most unique and rare Pontiacs ever. At typical body shop prices, a six figure body and paint restoration would just get the ball rolling IMO. Hope somebody does it.

Can anyone guesstimate what it will cost to restore and what it would auction off for??
