Default Anyone have a Grant 470-973 steering wheel installed on their '68 Firebird?

My original steering wheel is old and cracked. Considering installing the Grant 470-973 Walnut wood steering wheel. Some internet photos show it differently and wonder if anyone has installed one on their '68? I like that its 14-1/2" in diameter and real wood that closely matches the woodgrain in the interior.

I think this is a grant wheel but didn't keep a receipt on it. Installation was pretty straightforward. What is your question?

Bet it's just me but an aftermarket wheel in Pontiacs are a real soft on. Anyone else?

Yes, that does look like a grant wheel but not the same model I referred to. This one has rivets holding the wood correct?

I want to see the 973 model wheel on a 68 steering column.

I used the wood rim rivetted Grant wheel on my 71.....straightforward install, looked good and I liked the finger grooves on the back. My project 69 came with the same wheel in the soft rim version....haven't fitted it yet, but don't see there should be any issues.

Lol, never heard of that phrase but it’s not just you. Too many good looking factory wheels to not go with one of those.

This is the wheel I'm considering. The wood ring seems thick in this picture. On the Jegs web site it doesn't seem so thick.

I like the looks of a Grant wheel but hate the rivets. I re-finished mine using wood plugs to fill the holes modified the stain a little to match the "wood" on the dash better and finished it off with alkalyde varnish (resistant to body oils and sweat). Very pleased with the results. The finished product looks a lot like the photo above.
There are so many grant wheels in fgfs that they almost look correct.
