Visual ID needed of a miniature crankshaft
All, I purchased this mini cast crankshaft paperweight off of EPay. The seller indicated that it was purchased from an Engineer’s estate that worked at GM, but did not have anymore information. I have looked at several V8 cranks and this appears to look like a scaled down version of an early Pontiac crank to me. I am no expert in V8 cranks, so can anyone help ID this thing? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

Looks like Pontiac to me.
The main journals look like they’re kinda big and the snout sure is reminiscent of Pontiac design. Super cool piece I gotta say.

Could be, but many Olds and Buick cranks are very similar.

That would be cool to turn it down enough to get the casting flash off and polish it!

Love it! Wish I had one. Would be good practice project to clean it up on my lathe and mill.

Is a NEWS format for V8, and looks like a 400 style...yea, Cast. Too bad it needs machined.

This is sort of off topic, but you reminded me I watched a video interview the other day with Leonard Wood of the NASCAR Wood Brothers racing team...in his retirement, he's building a half scale, fully functional Ford 429 engine. It has an exquisite little crankshaft, along with all the other parts like a half size distributor, even a half size Holley carburetor. Some amazing machining and fabrication work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2_um_lS_44

Of all the difficulties in doing that half scale motor creating a half scale functional carb is supremely hard thing!
I mean just think about making a workable power valve.

Nice find. I wonder if Dimitrie Toth would know anything about it?
