326 timing cover/water pump
The inner metal plate in the timing cover on my 65 is corroded internally and partially rusted away on the "cut out", and I can't get it separated from the cover for replacement or repair. The aluminum on the other hand is fine.
I've got a 66-67 timing cover the plates fall right out and are in good condition, but the aluminum is severely pitted on all surfaces. I want to take the plates out of the 66-67 cover and put them in the 65 cover. I've soaked it in penetrating oil but if I use more force I'm afraid I will break it. Any suggestions ? |

Found out despite appearing to be rusty steel, it's all rusty aluminum. Trying to delete the post.
