I am rebuilding the Tri-power of dad's '65 Catalina wagon just for a winter project. Back when he was racing a lot, he rounded the snorkels of the air cleaner for ram air tubes. I have the snorkels back to an oval but now need to roll the front edges. I am thinking 1/4 radius to a full 90 degrees. Does any one have one close you can look at or measure?
Second question, I need to repaint the whole air cleaner, what paint to use? It looks like gloss black, but I am sure it has been waxed over the years, so just how much gloss should it have? |

I've been all over the web looking at paint colors and the rolled lips. I'am just going for the 1/4" once I figure a good way to do it. Still deciding on how much shine they had.

I'am getting closer, one snorkel is done, one to go.

Numerous pictures of my unrestored 1962 air cleaner here:
https://forums.maxperformanceinc.com...d.php?t=789934 Looks to be painted gloss black to me. Nice work you’re doing on the snorkels, it doesn’t get much better than that. ![]() I’m assuming they weren’t trimmed shorter and all the material was there to fix them correctly.
