I've had a strange leak that seems to jump to the weakest link in the chain so to speak. First it was the oil filter adapter, which was partially my fault because I didn't do a good enough job cleaning the engine surface. I fixed the leak by making my own gasket out of thicker material, and the leak stopped. I was about to give a sigh of relief when I started the car, but that didn't last long. After about 5 minutes or so of running, I look underneath and see a small pool of oil collecting in various spots underneath where the torque converter and the engine meet. So I climb under there, and notice oil in a bunch of random places. I clean all the areas off, and then run the engine for a few minutes. It looks like there is a leak coming from the rear main, and since I didn't have the cover that fits over the bottom of the torque convertor, oil was getting thrown all over. What baffles me is that this leak hasn't been a factor ever since I built the engine. I put an aftermarket Milodon oil pump which is high volume/high pressure, because I figured the old stock one might not be doing good enough job. This the only reason I can think of which is causing these leaks.

I had a remote oil filter setup on their earlier but had to go back to the standard setup, because the rubber hoses refused to seal at the end nearest the engine.

I'm selling my car in order to get a pick up since I can't afford to do anything more to it, and I'm moving to go to College. I can't afford to tear the engine apart, because it's my only form of short length transportation. Is this oil pump causing the problem? I want to be able to tell the person I'm selling the car to, so that they will understand how to fix it, honesty is important to me.

Are you still using the original oil pan?

Sounds like it could be the rear pan seal.

Good thinking! I'll check it out and see. It would be a relief if it was that on not the rear main. The sudden cause of the leak as a result of sealing up the one before it is what baffles me. I mean it literally went from no leak at all, to leaking like mad 5 minutes later. It has never leaked before.

Make sure your breathers or pcv valve are not blocked,it's possible for pressure to build up in the engine and blow past the seals.
