I am putting some new life into my current build. Its a 79 TA, 455, XE274, 3.23, performer intake, 6X heads, T-350 trans.
Currently, the car runs 13.6 at 101 in street tires. I am having the heads ported by KRE and am swapping in a 2.64 iron case ST-10 for the T-350.
I run a REALLY tall tire on the street 255 x 70, because basically, I can't get any traction with a smaller tire. I have calculated that with this tire size, with my new ST-10, I will cross the 1/4 at the top of third gear at 5100 rpm. Would I be better off buying a smaller tire (26 inch) and crossing the line at say 4200... in 4th gear(extra shift) or am I better off saving a shift and coming in at the top of third gear?
Ideas? Thanks.

Yea, you will be smarter, better, and quicker to use the 26" tire with the 3.23 gearset.
Get an electric pusher fuel pump in that chassis.

4800 through the traps...and you may be DEEP into the 12's. See signature.
