Tom V. maybe you're talking to me, not sure but I'll clear up my statement if it was misunderstood. I prefer not to re-line the mains, I've actually had good luck with sleeves and being a 400sbc is in somewhat of the same boat as a 455 Pontiac with regards to cylinder wall integrity I could see the value in the method you suggested. The trick would be finding the right machinist.
