I believe the retention clips catch the brake pedal support bracket. The wire harness with fuse in line looks like a tach feed.

Yep those clips go into holes in the stamped steel column support. The curved one is pretty easy to find .... I gotta admit I put the others in whatever hole seemed most convenient (same way I found my wife).

The 69 Assembly Manual is almost helpful ... but not very, since a lot of the dash is different. I was using an old harness so it kind already had a "set" which helped locate the appropriate hole.

I remember someone in the 68-69 section posted some pretty good underdash photos ... so someone knows the exact location.

I found this in my files.

From the 68 Factory service manual. Chapter 12, page 12-23. If you look at the close up you can see how the harness is attached to the pedal carrier

The blue 69 assembly manual has a number of pages for the 68 Tempest. This is one of them. Shows the dash wiring instructions.

Yep .. THAT page from the 68 service manual is what I used to find the two holes.

It looks like it crosses over the top of the bracket from driver side to RH side of bracket and clips on top. Do you concur?
Thanks

yes.

Look at the close up, it has guidelines to indicate which holes to plug the harness into

After seeing this thread, I went out and looked to see where my harness was and noticed it was just laying loose in there. I know I changed out the Boyne turn signal years ago on it. So you're saying this should go over the top of the pedal carrier from the drivers side and not from the passenger side like this is? It must, because I don't have the length to get it up there and into the hole from this side

based on twisting my head back and forth between that assembly diagram and your picture, it looks like that connector should be right there at the second hole. the harness before the connector pops into a hole just rearward and to the right side of where the brake pedal mounts and it appears your harness looks lined up that the pins already in that hole so the connector pin should just be about two inches back and to the right right where your harness connector's hovering. get a mirror and a light. and if it was me, just try getting a picture off a phone stuffed in there since I can't see crap anymore and no light or mirror would let my eyes focus on to see it anyways anymore!!

OG ... could you email a copy of that blue page, looked through all the stuff you've sent me and I don't think I have that one

69gtocv I think it the harness from the column should go around to the top of the column from the passenger side because the hole for the connector pin is on the top passenger side of the pedal carrier.

I bet there are a bunch of 68-69 readers that have done a super nice job underdash. Because if we have to go there again it darn well better be clean& neat, in proper oder so we can remember what modofications got added.

I have resorted to labeling non-stock wires with pen on maskingtape labels: Speedo-alert, Fuel Pump, Elec Fan Manual wire, HEI Manuel wire, Power Ant, Rear Kill Switch to Block relay.

I can figure out the Vacuum gauge hose and 12-Volt Gauge

Thanks for the reminder. I've added a few circuits myself that I need to I.D.

I labeled everything when I was testing my harness on the bench .... then decided to leave them all there after installation ... which was good cause half of it I ended up disconnecting and reconnecting for one reason or another.

Everything looks different when you are upside down

Dementia setting in?

My dad suffered from dementia. One of his reoccurring hallucinations was that the house was upside down.

So you're saying the harness in my photo is in the correct position? If that's the case, then you can see how I'd really be stretching it to get the turn signal connector up above the bracket and plugged into the hole. I did find the holes no issue, just doesn't feel right getting it so tight to plug into the hole
