Amazing feat. His crew chief, Roland Stuart, has a bike shop here in Gainesville and raced top fuel Harleys for a number of years. I went to junior high and high school with Roland but only saw him a few times over the years and didn't know he was part of the McBride team until about 2 years ago. He told me about the times and speeds that Larry was running and I guess my jaw hit the floor. Had no idea that those kinds of numbers were being put down.

Nice. I’m always in for some local action…

Good thing it was two weeks ago…this weekend WX is more like July WX.

I believe that was 1,000 feet, not 1/4 mile.

I raced road raced vintage motorcycles for 15 years ... some of the fastest riders were in their 60's. Experience is a huge factor in motorcycle racing.

1320’.

Only Top Fuel dragsters and Top Fuel funny cars run to 1000’.

I could not find the record run time slip but here’s an older one for Larry. You can see he’s in the fours @ 1000’ feet and only 204 MPH.

How those guys can ride those things is beyond me. Here's the video of the record run: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYfw4SGnnvc

There's a local custom painter who's done a couple bikes for me (Tom Summers, at Lowriders by Summers) who has an old top fuel Honda that he detuned and somehow got licensed for street use. Turning corners must be interesting with that big slick tire on the back.
