Default 68 AM "select" radio knob bezel

As the title suggests, looking for one with the black lettering. I know I can buy a whole set from our host, but my others are fine.

Yes, the 68 should have a flat back to it, no leg like 69+. But I understood that all 67-68's used black lettering??? Your 68 one there has white. Hmmm

???? WTH! Yours is just a standard AM only as well? I know 100% that my "tone" bezel is original and black lettering. Plant differences again?

Ed, do you still have the original radio in yours? Black or white letters?

Yes I do. It has the black lettering. Since I'm using an AM/FM Mono I won't be needing this spare, ultra - rare, black lettered 'Select' bezel. LOL
It's original, chrome is a little wrinkly but intact. One itty bitty chip just above the 'T'

You can have it, just PM me your address and I'll get it sent out

I've heard various reasons regarding Black or White lettering. One story was that early production cars had black, since the 67's had black and 69 and later had white. Maybe. My 68 is an early May build in Fremont. Not exactly early production. Too bad there isn't a 68 assembly manual to verify any change-over date if thats true.

And both of my 'Select' bezels have the leg on the back. The one on the AM radio is the original. Maybe the 67's had the flat back?

Lemme go look at the radio front on mine. Not sure it has a cut-out for that leg you're showing...I'll be back with a picture. And while I'm doing that, can you read the part # on the back on that bezel?

Yep mine is a standard AM radio. Late May Arlington.

Picture below was taken in 1976. My 68 Lemans parts car (May Baltimore) also had white lettering. Both had the short prong on the back.

Weird, three cars built in May including OG68's and two different colored lettering

I too can check for "Select".

i chose to use the stock "golden white" rather than brite white. Had a no-thanks opinion of the black letters since the 80s.

Have a black one coming in the mail thanks to OG68.

Have you seen both black and white lettering though on 68's too?
