These early A-body cars flex, the frame and body as a unit aren’t all that stiff especially the 2-door hardtops.

That seam should be visible and not leaded or filled over to look smooth. Only the convertible body seams in that location were completely filled with lead to hide the joint, and they all show cracks it’s just the nature of the beast.

Post a picture so we can actually see what you’re trying to describe.

However I’d say just live with it, it’s not like your car is breaking apart.

Chasing ultimate perfection in something your planning on driving daily at least in fair weather is futile, drive it and enjoy it and don’t sweat the small stuff.

True, perfection will just irritate one.

There's a pic a few posts up B-Man.

Pretty sure a scratch & dent shop could fix that, but I say talk to the body guy is the best approach at the moment. He may just touch it up like a scratch & dent person would. It's worth a call.

Sorry I didn’t see the picture.

Anyway that should never have been filled smooth like that in the first place, if it had been done like factory it would have cracked at the bottom of the actual visible seam and wouldn’t stand out like that.

Chasing perfection.

Drive it as is, otherwise you’ll be opening a big can of worms that’s just going to delay your ability to enjoy the car.

Building what’s essentially a show car and expecting it to stay perfect as a daily driver is somewhat unrealistic.

Good luck with whatever path you choose.

You guys are right. That’s not a good picture though. The seam does look “mudded” like it’s supposed to.

Here's my '65. Single stage paint done in 1985. Car has never been in an accident, all original steel. I've had it since 1982. No cracks in the seams I can see. And no filler, either. At least not plastic. Click image for larger version
