Bias Ply slicks or drag radials?
So with trying to get better on my 60ft times I am trying to decide between a bias ply slick or a drag radial tire in a 28x10.5x15 size could maybe squeeze an 11.5. I have currently been using my 17inch tires with MT Estreet R’s right now and I can’t really leave that hard or power brake off the line at all right now. I believe I can improve a lot on my 60ft by going to a 28 inch tire on 15’s.
I was hoping I could get some feedback and experience with both tires and some suggestions….from what I’ve learned I could probably leave at a little higher rpm with the bias ply but don't like the stories I’ve heard about about them being wobbly at high speeds. Please let me know your thoughts and feedback…thank you as always! |

You are better off with radials.
Tried both, 60 footed about the same. But the radials gave me a tenth and were much more stable on the big end. I had to buy bias last year and the car never made it to the track. Wish I had waited for the radials. Now looking for some 15x10 Welds just to have a excuse to buy some radials. |

You could try the Hoosier drag slick with the stiff sidewall. They work great for heavy cars. I don't know how true this is, but I was told they prep the track different for cars with radial tires.

How about a radial slick? I've run Hoosier and M/T with good results, no tubes needed

I was wondering about those radial slicks….that was my questions…..a couple guys at the track suggested the bias plys to me so I could leave at alittle higher rpm and said they would drop my 60ft by a couple tenths….
I just didn’t want the wobble at the big end but it might be worth it to pick up a couple tenths on the 60ft |

You are not going to pick up a couple tenths with any slick if you already have a cheater slick IMO.
I never picked up in 60' turning up the launch RPM dial. Front tires might pop up a little more but the 60' did not change much. The MT Pro Bracket Radial is the one to get. Its made to hook on tracks with not the best prep. |

When my TA had the roller cam 5000 stall convertor combo and 1.5 60 ft'd I was using Hoosier 9" radial slicks. They were way more sensitive to track prep than the M/T bias I had been running but did not "grow" on the big end and I could run taller and not hit the TA wheel well spoiler. My M/T radial DOTs on it now act about like the radial slicks as far as track prep.

I ran my radial slicks at about 16-18 psi and no wobble! Within 1/2-1" of body work.

They make an ET street R Bias? I thought the R stood for radial?

Yeah, I just made my mind up to just sell my Hoosier 29.5x15 slicks and just buy some MT Pro Bracket Radials. The Hoosiers are still basically new. Only been down the track twice and never had a burnout. Little nubs of the t!ts are still there.
I am adding a good 10 mph to the car. 550ish HP old engine to 700 HP range so I don't want to go back to that wobble at 130+ MPH when I get off the gas. |

I run a radial slick with no problems.

Thats the one. Mine are 10.5 x 15. 30" tall.

Mine showed up today' 30 in tall just like the last set.
What I REALLY want is a 31" tall radial with a 11" tread but need a 13" of less section with. Will have more power with this engine and I bet I could put a taller tire to good use. Hoosier, MT , can you make me that tire please ? |

For that radial tire slick….can I put them on before and drive to the track? Or can they not be driven on the street at all?
