Default Reverse Rotation Water Pump for traditional engines.

The guys at Evans Cooling are supposed to be sending me the reverse rotation water pump in the near future.

We will see.

Would that be for a serpentine drive?

I believe Tom V. said he needs it for a centrifugal blower setup PJ.

Yes, for serpentine drive and blower set-up.

Well, Evans sent me the Hub for a trial fit and it fits my steel reverse rotation water pump pulley just fine.

Next step is to have them put the parts into a Pontiac water pump with a reverse rotation impeller i saw at the PRI show.

Driving the water pump in reverse with the serpentine belt is the plan.

All of the accessories on one serpentine belt without all of the extra "march" idlers. LOL!

I was thinking about going to a serpentine belt system. Besides the fancy pullies, do you really have to set the water pump up to run in reverse? Please explain if anyone knows.

The March system runs the water pump with the normal rotation, that is why they need all the extra idlers.

If you look at a water pump and the metal divider plate you will see that if you used the correct impeller for the rotation of the pump, the water will flow evenly to both flow tubes and then into the engine just like it always has,

If you look at the hole in the center of the divider plate you will see that the pump doesn't care if the pump is spinning forwards or backwards so long as the pump rotation is correct for the impeller.

I am doing it to eliminate several costly idlers and make a simplier set-up for my blower application.

And I'm anxious to see what you come up with Tom, please keep me updated if you would. Also anxious to see what Mark comes up with for Bad69bird, though haven't heard from him in a while...

Well the Boys at Evans Cooling hit my credit card for the Reverse Rotation Pontiac Water pump today so I guess after all of this hard work I will have the first one in the country.

Then the fun starts again with the fead (front-end accessory drive) system.

Got the Reverse Rotation water pump from Evans Cooling yesterday. Really nice. Aluminum vaned impeller and a nice bleed valve feature.

Next step is the mock up with the Ford serpentine pulley.

I couldn't find anything on the Evans website concerning a reverse rotation impeller or pump for a Pontiac. I realize it was probably a prototype but do you have a part number? Thanks.

The guy I talked to was named Steve Prestley.

Call evans cooling and ask the operator for him. Tell him you saw where Tom Vaught had a Reverse Rotation Traditional Pontiac water pump made and interested in what it would take to have more made. Phone calls will help the process of getting a new pump for pontiacs.

I picked this topic up a couple of weeks ago. Steve called today and said they are ready to start selling the reverse rotation pump for $200ish. A bit more if you want it set up "Mustang" style with an upgraded bearing set. I'm going to try one out with March pulleys and a 69 timing cover on my 63 Tempest. From the sound of it these should be a Evans catalog item in the very near future.

What is the benefit of this? ANd how do you get it to turn backwards without the belt crossing over itself?
