Default GT-37 Vin ?

What would the VIN start out as for a 71 GT-37? Was the car based off the Tempest (33) or the Lemans (35)? I believe it was the Tempest. Thanks

23337 would be the start of the vin and phs would show if it had GT option in 71....FYI: No Tempest in 71

GT-37 was and option on the T-37 series cars.

Usually a dead give away for GT-37 is if the T-37 you are looks like it has factory sport mirrors and hood pins. Usually that is...........

The GT-37 that I'm looking at is a T-37 that was cloned into a GT-37 by the dealer, (owner has the paper work I guess, we'll see) I know that doesn't make it a GT-37 but I wanted to know what the GT-37 would have been based off of, a Lemans or a Tempest. The clone has all the correct parts, hood pins, sport mirrors, valance with cut outs. It is also equipped with power disk brakes, ac (missing), 3 spd trans.

According to the ultimategto.com website the 71 Tempest would be vin# 33

They are wrong as No Tempest in 71..... Only way to get a GT-37 was to start with T-37 and add the GT option.

I would never use that site as a resource the way you are using it. It's a shame because it likely comes up near the top on Internet searches, so many people are getting wrong information.
