Toying with selling my Pontiac parts
I am toying with selling all my Pontiac parts and converting my Firebird over to a corporate LS type motor. It would be easier to get turbo type parts for the car than buying parts for a Pontiac engine. The down side is the car would be generic like a lot of other cars.
I have kind of been waiting for Don's RA V heads to come into production to see what size combustion chambers will be offered. Just a consideration right now. I have ran Pontiacs since me and my brother started street racing back in the late 80s early 90s. I will research more and decide later as it is hard for me to change do to loving and being loyal to Pontiacs for so long.

I know, but I have some thick skin and go my own way when I make up my mind to do something. Hell if I didn't I would not have ran a Pontiac for so long lol. All the brand X guys that I ran with think I am out of my mind.

That LS motor would look right at home in a Camaro. Sell the whole ball of wax and go the Bow tie route.

I wish I had a friend with your skill at painting out here though as the old girl has never been painted nice. I was always worried more about HP than looks. Ugly was stealthy while street racing though.

Sometime you do what you have to do or what make economical sense. we have a 67 firebird project that I'll start on next year and I seriously thought about an LS deal because this will be a fun street/driver car but the wife squashed that idea.

I have a 64 Lemans too, but that is just going to be a fun street cruiser. I am just thinking right now, but I am seriously liking the LS engines the more I learn about them.

I have a friend that's built an entire car in his garage, by him self, at his wife's urging. He's now 70 and is having minor health issues, which make him unfit to drive the dad gum thing. I feel certain this this would run a 7 second 1/4 mile e.t............... I wish the world could see this thing, it's a work of art, essentially a 92 GRAND AM prostocker. 541 Pontiac, w/ a home mead tunnel ram intake, and an injector hat on top of that....He spoke of selling the car, about a year ago, his wife said NO WAY!!! My former spouse hated my T/A, made sure to speak unkindly of it in front of it to her 2 young daughters...so they could hate it too!!!!! Man I'm thankful NOT to be married to her......and still have my T/A!!!

Don't do it man. I think we're all here because we grew up building and improving Pontiac engines to compete with what everyone else was running. The LSx engine is a good engine and a good design. But it's not what got your heart into going fast and wanting to improve the HP level of the Pontiac engine. Don't throw in the towel, there are folks willing to help if you need it to make a Pontiac go. Look at The Crow as an example of a killer turbo car.
Marcella is a great and talented guy. I think I understand why he switched engines, he's trying to be more competitive in the class he's running. However, I really believe he'll be back to the Pontiac engine in future. It's why we all started doing what we're doing isn't it? PPTTFMF! |

A Ram Air 5 turbo engine would be awesome.

Yeah, and a twin turbo RA-V would be wicked awesome, if you use the right vendors. I can’t wait to see DCI RA-Vs running.

Yes its easier and cheaper to go LSx, that's why everyone is doing it.
The question is, do you want to be like everyone else? |

Not sure I get this -- both engines will need chassis specific headers -and intake plumbing to get it all together so what are you wanting to do by going to an LS motor ??? The "build" on the two motors will be similar to hold up under boost, so again, where is the huge advantage?? And I guarantee you - you can make more power with Stock or e-heads than your chassis can hold---- trust me.
