Alright I have got a chance to get a set of 6X street ported and polished heads with 2.11 1.77 Ferrea stainless steel valves and the Combustion chamber has been shaved to 91 CC .040 has been taken off. He wants 500 for them I currently has a 78 400 T/A and wanted to know if this was a good deal should I jump on it if I donot they will be gone soon. I figured with that kind of chamber it should give me just above stock compression good for pump gas. The flow #'s are @28" 220@.500 (intake) and 177@.500. So does this sound good for 500 or should I not waste my money. This is going to be on a street/strip 78 T/A 400. Thanks for any suggestions you can give me.

------------------
78 400 T/A 6.6 WS6
headers duel exhaust alot more too come
soon to be 2000 Z28 or formula as well

I guess the answer in this case would be it depends. Head porting is a fine art. If done incorrectly you can ruin a pair of heads. The numbers you gave are not very impressive. I would guess about 20% better than stock from the factory. I would say that if you just did some light bowl work, radiused the short turn a bit and put on a good three angle valve job you would have better numbers than those heads have. Now the .040 milled off the head. If the intake side was not milled off an equal amount you probably will have a fit problem with the intake manifold and maybe the valley pan. Also when ever you buy a set of heads it is a good idea to make sure the seller will guarantee them crack free or have him magnaflux them for you. Either way they should be maguflux inspected before you put them on your car or put any money into them. I would say if they were ported properly, have good springs and good valve guides and a nice valve job they are an excellent deal. Remember caution is the word here. Sometimes it's best to pick up a set from pick-A-Parts and have them done exactly as you need. Sometimes the bargain turns out not such a great deal. Good luck.
