Near 1000$ for bare heads, you will have some money in them by the time you are done.
The CNC versions are 1400$ might be OK if the port work is good. Any flow sheets ? The best deal looks like its the hyd roller CNC complete heads for 1600$ If the valves are one piece might be a good starting point. All I can find on the valves is "hardened tips". (5.210 long) Nothing about one piece. If the components are good enough 1200$ for bolt on heads (non CNC) is a good deal. But Its my understanding that the area under the valves are lacking for big ported numbers. Resale ? Sure looks like some pairs have sat with folks trying to sell them. Everyone knows they will be back on sale next year. I picked up a few nick knacks, nothing major this year. A aluminum filler neck for my SM fuel cell. Mine is plastic and the thought of having issues at the track got me to upgrade. Bought a big fuel filter with cleanable wire mesh filter and what looks like a Mallory copy 140 gph fuel pump. But its 160 gph. Not much risk, only 40 $ They have a mechanical 115 gph pump for 24 $ They have some dirt cheap roller rockers (maybe too cheap) 140$ SS and 130$ for aluminum. Say they can take 600lb spring pressure. If someone is looking for budget connecting rods they have some 242$ 4340 6.8 H beams. My brother bought a set. They also have what looks to be a Crower billet copy 6.8 4340 rod for 262 $. 880 grams though. They have some cranks but only a 3.25 main 4.25 stroke 4340 for 680$ I stupidly sold mine years ago. But I don't know if these need reground like some do. I know I can buy a Scat for 1000$ that does not need re ground. The 3" main crank at 569$ would be a great deal but not in stock. I paid real money for some T400 drums last year but have not got around to building a new trans yet, the one I have is doing fine. |

I did not get the CNCd.My shop pressure tested them,checked them out.Needed a good valve job and he and I did not like the hyd roller springs.They we’re great on the seat and open but had .900 coil bind.FWIW.Tom

I don’t remember,they are at the shop now getting proper springs.Will let you know when we get them done.I have been sitting on them for awhile.Finally getting around to building a engine.Tom

The numbers I got from Randy Repp was installed height at 1.8 @135. 6.12 lift 1.188 320# coil bind at .960 for hydraulic roller heads.
Also Butler said they can do their 340 port on these, just wondering if anyone has done that yet?

At 1200 a set on sale it's a great value. Out the box they flow as good to .500 lift as the best d ports l have done. They out perform them after .500 lift. I would charge 750 in port work on the iron heads to get to that point. Weight savings. Efficient combustion chamber. Repairability it's all good. I would not invest a ton in iron heads for a street strip build with these available.

One more thing, Butler did say there was enough seat material to go to the 2.19 valve without changing seats. Thats the size they use for there 325 and 340 heads.

both my sdperf 310 blower chamber heads and the dport eheads are assembleled so i cant compare the bowl area but these look better than the 1st set of eheads i bought back in 05. i did feel a bit of a dip just below the valve seat in the intake valve area but nothing major

it does suck that the tangs in exhaust heli coils need broke off....ill have to find a good way to do that still yet. i have higher expectations for my sd heads but im bolting a 871 to a set of these that i expect to take care of any shortcomings in the flowdept

A fwiw tid bit relating to the valve length posted above. On their 72cc Performer RPM cylinder head Edelbrock used 5.213" long valves on the intake. Installed height was stated to be 1.800", but it could vary slightly on occasions. This was years ago, presume it is the same today. .

You will need to remove tangs from all the rocker stud holes also.

The rocker tabs are a little tricky. A punch and hitting it just right. Not deep enough to grab and bend good . First one I did nto hit right had to bend it to where the stud goes down better.

I received my Black Friday 78cc Speedmaster Heads today. I will post some photos, but it will take me quite a while especially with the limitations of only a few photo's per post. I am not savy on how to post multiple photos with photo bucket or such. Overall they look pretty good but things of interest I found were the following.
1. They could use some minor final clean up after the CNC port work 2. What are all these press in plugs that are not present on my eheads??? Wish they were brass instead of steel I can see them rusting out eventually 3. As already mentioned the tangs on the heli-coils were not removed after installation 4. The pushrod holes will need some opening up at the top to clear 1.65 rockers 5. The holes for the rocker studs are not deep enough to fully seat the studs. The studs will need to be shortened about 1/8" to fully insert them 6. The intake ports line up real good with a RA IV gasket, didn't have an exhaust gasket but they look just like the exhaust ports on my eheads 7. I have not cc's the chambers but I may do that next week and report back with I find
