Default 1965 GTO hood latch spring

took the 65 out for its 1st ride since 1978 this weekend. as i was driving the hood started to rise up. the hood latch spring broke !! any ideas where i can get one (2 really - need one for the other 65 i am working on)

That looks like a hood hinge spring.

Spring store. Good old fashion hardware store, Fastenal or a NAPA warehouse store.

Now that I've looked at my 66, is that the spring for the arm to unlatch the hood? If so it's like Chief said.. NAPA or Fastenal store. Maybe even Home Depot or Lowes in one their "Specialty" bins in Hardware. I've seen springs in that section for both stores.

None of the catalogs for Pontiac parts I have has it.... that's why it threw me and I asked what I did before.

Im confused. The actual primary latch or the "claw "looking secondary/release catch?

That spring is for the primary latch .

Yeah, the latch lever that initially opens the hood. That's what you mean Chrisp?

There is no spring on the latch on the under side of the hood. The Ames catalog says so..... Page 107 Part # D176Y. [This is not the safety latch with the hook.]
